CAN I GET HIV FROM USING OTHER KINDS OF DRUGS

The answer to this is NO, and at the same time, YES.

NO, because no drug in itself can cause HIV/AIDS.

YES, but not directly.

As earlier stated, no drug in itself can cause HIV/AIDS, but some drugs indirectly predispose an individual to greater risks.

Let's take a look at some of these drugs. . .

There are many drugs that people use or abuse occasionally.

The most common one is alcohol (in beer, wine, or liquor).

Others include:
Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroin, Amphetamines, Ketamine and Ecstasy.

These drugs do not only increases someone's risk of getting HIV, they can also cause special problems/complications for people who are already HIV infected.

HOW DO THESE DRUGS INCREASES ONE'S RISK OF CONTRACTING HIV/AIDS?

●     ALCOHOLcan alter people's judgment. Being drunk affects one's ability to make safe choices and lowers one's inhibitions, which may lead to take risks such as having sex without a condom.

People who are addicted to drugs or alcohol are often malnourished. Poor nutrition can be a serious problem for people with HIV, and may make them become sick faster.

●     METHAMPHETAMINE(meth)

Meth is a very addictive stimulant that can be snorted, smoked, or injected. Even though using Meth is an HIV risk factor for anyone who does it, there is a strong link between Meth use and HIV transmission for men who have sex with men. Such men who use meth may increase their sexual and drug-use risk factors and they may Use condoms less often.

●     SHARING NEEDLES to inject drugs (such as heroin, speed, or anabolic steroids) is VERY dangerous and can easily spread HIV (and other serious diseases) from one person to another.

●     COCAINE

Cocaine is a powerfully addictive stimulant drug. The powdered form of cocaine is either inhaled through the nose (snorted), or dissolved in water and injected into the bloodstream. Crack is a form of cocaine that has been processed to make a rock crystal that users smoke.

Using crack cocaine puts you at risk for contracting HIV because crack impairs your judgment, which can lead to risky sexual behaviour.

Some people who are addicted to drugs may trade sex for drugs or money to get more drugs. This may put them at greater risk of HIV, especially if they do not always practice safe sex.

These drugs do not only increases someone's risk of getting HIV, they can also cause special problems/complications for people who are already HIV infected.

Why People Should Take Alternatives To Prescription Drugs

By Iva Cannon

Most people suffer from different medical conditions. They experience several symptoms, such as headaches, body pains, nausea, vomiting, and others. These symptoms typically prevent them to do their daily chores. For this, they consult their doctors and ask for their assistance.

These doctors typically know how to extend their help to their patients. They usually prescribe different medicines to them. However, some medical professionals would rather provide recommendations that the patients should use alternatives to prescription drugs.

The symptoms felt by the patients are eased by certain chemicals contained in the drugs. However, dependence can be caused by these medicines to the patients. These products can be abused and lead to addiction. More complicated conditions may occur. Instead, these substitutes can be utilized by the patients to have some symptoms eased.

A patient suffering from high cholesterol is using statin. It blocks the enzymes which the liver is producing in making cholesterol. At times, it could even be blocking the good ones. For this, the individual should be changing his diet, instead. He should be consuming foods which could be lowering bad cholesterol naturally, like garlic, oats, olive oil, dark chocolate, and red wine, among others.

A woman aged fifty years and above could be having hypothyroid. She could be taking levothyroxine sodium for her condition. For this, she should be checking for iron deficiency in her diet. She must be consulting an ENT specialist for her condition and taking in supplements for her to be increasing iron in her body, like iodide tablets.

People consider diabetes as a silent killer. Most people do not know that they have diabetes. Those with sedentary lifestyles typically have greater risks to acquire this condition. For those who already suffer from this disease, they usually take metformin HCL and other diabetic medications. However, they can increase their exercise levels. They should perform workouts regularly and produce a lot of sweat. They should adopt healthy diets and exercise regimens. This way, their muscles can become more responsive to insulin and better absorb glucose for energy consumption.

A person suffering from anxiety consumes alprazolam. Females will most likely be developing this condition. A psychologist will be suggesting that her patient writes down her anxious experiences. In this way, she will be knowing her behavior and identifying the trigger of her feelings. After identifying the cause, her psychologist will be suggesting ways in changing her attitude.

Many people have difficulties sleeping. They are usually counting sheep mentally, believing that it will be helping them. However, some are taking zolpidem tartrate for insomnia. They could be replacing the drug with melatonin. The pineal gland is releasing the hormone and a patient could be buying it over the counter. He should be taking half a gram of this hormone for sleeping.

Sertralize HCL is taken by women with depression. However, more fish should be eaten by them instead. Anti depressant effect is possessed by fish oil. Omega 3 which is good for their hearts is also present. One teaspoon daily of cod liver oil should be taken. If fish is not desired by them, walnuts, flax, green and also leafy vegetables can be eaten, instead.
