Historical Aspects Of San Diego Mediums

By Jason Butler

Whether John Edwards, Silvia Browne or local psychics, many individuals often remain skeptical of these supernatural warriors. Still, when San Diego mediums and others have personal information about those whom have passed on, some start to believe. Whereas, others whom have seen apparitions or other ghostly signs have often seen enough that any such skepticism fades.

To better understand the concept of Mediumship, one must first understand the practice. Although, the practice did not become popular until the mid-19th century. During this time, alchemists, mediums and psychics all became popular as a form of entertainment. After which, others became accepted as individuals whom could communicate between the physical and spiritual world. In doing so, it became evident that these individuals could also communicate with spirits whom had passed on.

One reason for the current and ongoing skepticism is the disbelief which began during the same historical period. A period when many individuals committed fraudulent readings by using magic rather than any form of spiritual communication. As a result, those most effected by this lack of credibility are those having worked or now working in the area of Mediumship.

While there have been several scientific studies, most have ascertained that it is impossible to prove psychic ability. As a result, whether famous or lesser known, these individuals often have to include a personal message from the other side to prove such claims. For example, John and Sylvia often offer information that only audience members could know about the individual with which one is attempting to communicate.

There are also a number of ghost oriented shows in which paranormal researchers claim to talk to spirits. In general, there are several ways this can take place. For example, the medium can invoke a spirit in which the spirit then takes over the physical aspect, including voice to communicate with those in the physical world. In other cases, the psychic individual will receive messages, then pass this information on to a client.

While rare, there are occasions where spirits has been known to appear as an apparition including a voice along with the ability to move items. One of the most common places for this type of occurrence is during a seance. A seance is a spiritual gathering where a psychic and others gather to directly call upon an individual who has passed on.

Mediumship, while often considered more spiritual than religious, does have some connection to religion and various belief systems. These include, Spiritism, Candomble, Voodoo, Paganism and New Age practices. While Christianity and Catholicism share beliefs in demons, most often those involved in these branches of Christianity tend to shy away from anything considered to be supernatural or of the occult.

Ultimately, whether real or imagined, these individuals have helped a number of others find closure when it comes to the loss of loved ones. For, whether real or imagined, having the ability to communicate messages between the physical and spiritual worlds can often allow for apologies or other information which had yet to be shared in the physical realm. After which, many of these individuals often find far more comfort in the future than when feeling guilty about things left unsaid in the present.
