Other than occasional articles for magazines, newsletters, and for Decision Resources, my first job as a columnist was for Vision Monday, part of the Jobson Group of publications. I wrote mostly about what was happening in the contact lens industry, beginning when the newspaper first began publishing in late 1988. These columns continued until November 1990, by which time I had begun writing my Technology Update column for Ophthalmology Management (and later for Ocular Surgery News).
I have been able to find most of the columns that were written, but a few remain on an old computer and are probably inaccessible. Here is a listing of what I have been able to find:
1988
● SEPTEMBER'S FDA APPROVALS, November 1988
● WHAT'S NEW ON THE INTERNATIONAL FRONT, December, 1988
1989
● A LOOK BACK AT THE NEW PRODUCTS OF 1988, January 1989
●
● A BIT OF NOSTALGIA (my history in soft lenses), March 1989
● SECOND OPAQUE LENS COMING TO MARKET, April 1989
● NE W PRESERVATIVE WINS APPROVAL, May 1989
● MEDIA FOCUSES ON CONTACT LENSES, June 1989
● FUTURE PROSPECTS FOR ALLERGAN, July 1989
● A SALUTE TO THE B&L NATIONAL RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM, August 1989
● PATENTS, LICENSES AND LITIGATION. September, 1989
●
●
● ANOTHER TEMPEST IN A TEA POT?, December 1989
1990
●
● CONTACT LENS FUTURES, February 1990
● REBIRTH OF A BIFOCAL, March 1990
