The Basics Of Parkour New York

One of the trends in sports nowadays would be the art of running in the streets and doing stunts or better yet known as parkour new york. It is in fact very common for a lot of people to take up this art because it is very exciting and adrenaline pumping. Now if one would want to be able to do this art, then there are some things that he should take note of first.

Now before one would even want to attempt to try out this art, he has to make sure his body is ready first because he will be doing a lot of feats that will require a lot of strength. His tensile strength has to be increased by doing certain exercises like push ups or sit ups. He must also do a lot of stretching exercises or calisthenics so that he can improve his flexibility because flexibility is actually a requirement for practitioners.

The most basic move of parkour would actually be jumping because one will be doing this a lot as he starts his training. As a warm up, one would have to practice jumping from one point to another. As days go by, he should steadily increase the distance in which he is jumping in order to improve jumping skills and develop greater leg strength.

Aside from jumping techniques, one will also be learning landing techniques which is very important to do after one has performed a jump. Now take note that if one does not know how to land after he came from a high jump, then the pressure of the landing will injure his feet. The most basic way to land would be for one to squat at the moment he reaches the ground.

After learning how to jump and land the right way, then the next thing on the list to learn would be how to roll. Now rolling can be used as a part of the arsenal or probably as a landing maneuver. Now the proper way to roll in parkour would be to do a shoulder roll which involves smashing the shoulder to the ground in order to force the body forward and do a roll.

Another very basic set of moves would be climbing maneuvers because one will actually be doing a lot of this if he is taking up parkour. Now in order to do this, one has to have very strong core muscles. The reason as to why he has to have strong core muscles is because he will be needing those core muscles to push himself up.

The last thing on the list of basic things to learn would be vaulting or jumping over tall objects like fences. Vaulting is just actually another form of jumping but it involves using the hands to push oneself over an object. Start practicing with small objects first then gradually go on to the taller ones.

So basically, those are some of the techniques that one will be learning if he decides to take up parkour new york. One must always remember to be very careful if he decides to push through with this art. If one is not careful, then he may actually get hurt in the process.
